Meet the Writers
CAMPUS WRITERS

Jacqueline Liu
Jacqueline Liu is a junior majoring in psychology with a minor in advertising and public relations. This is her third semester as a campus writer for The Buzz. Beyond writing, she serves as the treasurer for BU’s Taiwanese American Student Association and is a member of Alpha Phi. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, meeting people, listening to podcasts, playing volleyball and the piano, and spending time with family.

Olivia McKenley
Olivia McKenley is a freshman from Atlanta, Georgia studying journalism and psychology. This is her second semester writing for The Buzz campus section! Alongside The Buzz, she is a writer for the Daily Free Press city section and a blog writer for BU’s Fashion & Retail Association. When she’s not busy writing, Olivia loves drawing, swimming, listening to music, and traveling.

Emerson Drake
Emerson Drake is a sophomore studying public relations and minoring in earth and environmental sciences. This is Emerson’s first semester writing for The Buzz, but she has served as an event coordinator for the past two semesters. In addition to The Buzz, she is the philanthropy chairwoman for the Delta chapter of Gamma Phi Beta and is a member of Omega Phi Alpha. Originally from Philly, Emerson loves traveling, trying new restaurants, attending concerts, and watching rom-coms!

Lea Tran is a sophomore majoring in Journalism with a minor in History. This is her third semester writing for the wellness section of The Buzz! In addition to writing for The Buzz, she also writes for the lifestyle section of The Daily Free Press and a podcast beat reporter for BU News Service! She is also a BU tour guide! She loves to thrift, anything movie related, the beach, and a really good book.

Erica Schwartz
Erica Schwartz is a junior majoring in Journalism with minors in Human Physiology and French. This is her second semester writing for The Buzz, and she is so excited! Outside of The Buzz, Erica is an Associate Lifestyle Editor for The Daily Free Press, a writer for Good Morning BU, and a camera operator and local news correspondent for The Wire. Formerly, she was the Website Editor for the BU Fashion & Retail Association blog. She loves all things vintage fashion and media, weightlifting, yoga, spending time with friends, and reading.

Khushi Mirpuri
Khushi Mirpuri is a sophomore from St. Kitts, majoring in Economics with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. This is her second semester as a writer for the wellness column! Beyond her work at The Buzz, Khushi is co-founder of a beauty industry product developing in the BU Innovation Pathway. She has a passion for traveling, yoga, meditation, movies, and artwork. She loves the opportunity to explore various aspects of health and wellness through her writing, gaining insight and inspiration along the way at The Buzz!

Isabelle Oss
Isabelle is a graduate student from Denver, CO studying Journalism at BU. She has a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from Colorado State University and graduated in 2023. This is her first semester as a writer for The Buzz and she is also the co-editor of The Buzz’s new podcast. Isabelle previously worked as a news writer and camera operator for BUTV’s election special, “United We Vote”, but loves covering anything from pop culture to sports in any medium from writing to video. She is excited to be part of the team this semester and looks forward to collaborating with other talented creatives! When she’s not writing, Isabelle enjoys lifting, playing volleyball, exploring Boston with her friends and playing the guitar.

FOOD WRITERS

Stella Coffaro
Stella Coffaro is currently a sophomore, double majoring in English Literature and Political Science at Boston University. This is her second semester writing for the BU Buzz; she loves exploring how food can connect people to their communities and cultures! Stella is also a writer and editor for HerCampus BU and represents the College of General Studies (CGS) in her various student leadership positions. When she’s not writing, you’ll often find Stella reading, exploring Boston’s bookshops and museums, or trying out new restaurants and recipes with friends.

William White
Wiliam White is a sophomore majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Hospitality and Administration. This is his second semester as a food writer for The Buzz! He loves trying out new restaurants and checking out the food scene in the city. In his free time, William loves going on runs, exploring the city, and going out with friends.

Clara Kye
Clara Kye is a freshman majoring in Advertising at COM. This is her second semester writing as a food writer for The Buzz. She is also actively engaging on campus as a member of BU’s Campus Activities Board and COM’s Student Government. In her free time, you can find her listening to upbeat music while walking next to the Charles River and people-watching.

John Salloum
John Salloum is a current Masters of Data Science student having graduated from BU previously for computer science. This is his second year with the BUZZ as a food writer. In his free time he likes to try out new recipes as well as watching formula 1 and soccer.

CITY WRITERS

Amanda Brucculeri
Amanda Brucculeri is a junior from New York City. She is majoring in Journalism and minoring in Public Relations. This is her third semester as a writer for the city column at The Buzz. Outside of The Buzz, Amanda is the podcast editor for Boston University News Service and DJ on WTBU. She loves to watch movies, write, and explore the city of Boston!

Mia Overbo
Mia Overbo is a sophomore majoring in Business Administration and minoring in visual arts. She joined The Buzz her freshman year as a graphic designer and now plans events as the Communications Director. Originally from California, Mia loves to explore Boston and write about her findings. Outside of the Buzz, Mia works as a sales manager for an apparel company called Merch Pier, serves as the merch chair for Gamma Phi Beta, and helps Boston-based companies plan skincare pop-ups and fashion shows. In her free time, she loves to thrift with friends, run along the Charles, and discover new artists at live music events.

Nazalia Justiniano
Nazalia Justiniano is a sophomore majoring in Journalism and minoring in Public Relations. This is her second semester writing for The Buzz; she loves discovering and exploring Boston’s vibrant city life and culture. When she is not writing, you can find her thrifting or at a cafe. Siena Aida is a junior majoring in Journalism and minoring in Business. This is her first semester writing for the city column at The Buzz. Having grown up in NYC, New York, living in the city has always been one of the biggest parts of her life and she is excited to have the opportunity to write about it!! Outside of The Buzz, Siena is a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority. She has also worked closely with BU Marketing Club, The Daily Free Press, and appears on BUTV10’s The Wire every Thursday morning.

Owen Richardson
Owen is a senior majoring in international relations and minoring in urban studies. It is his first semester writing for The Buzz and he is excited to have an outlet to write about his experiences in Boston and other cities.

Yasmine Chang is a sophomore majoring in Journalism and Advertising at Boston University. She has been a Layout Designer for The Buzz since Spring 2024 and maintains that role as she begins her new role as a Culture Writer. She is also part of Student Government as the Communications Cabinet Deputy, BU Fashion & Retail Association as the Social Media Graphic Designer, Phi Alpha Delta as an active member, Women Changemakers for Education as a media intern and The Daily Free Press as a new Lifestyle writer. Yasmine uses The Buzz as a creative outlet to write and design as she explores outlets relating to social advocacy, food and pop culture. Apart from writing, Yasmine also enjoys trying new foods, hanging out with her friends and perfecting her matcha latte recipe.

Josephine Hale is a sophomore majoring in International Relations and minoring in Public Relations. This is her first semester writing for the travel section of The Buzz! She’s so excited to share my passion for travel with y’all, especially all of the stories and advice she has acquired over the years! In her free time she enjoys reading, collecting postcards, pilates, and being with her friends.

Saniya Makenova
Saniya Makenova is a freshman studying Nutritional Sciences at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation. This is her first semester as a travel writer for The Buzz! She loves the beach, baking, trying new restaurants, and of course, exploring new corners of the world!!

Kiera Dunlevy
Kiera is a sophomore double majoring in Advertising and Film & TV and this is her 3rd semester writing for the travel section. She’s loved both traveling and writing her whole life so The Buzz has been the perfect place for Kiera to combine her passions! In her free time she loves photography, being outdoors, yoga, and trying new cafes with friends.

Zainab is a junior studying Public Relations and Political Science and has been writing for The Buzz since her freshman year. She is currently doing a year abroad in both London and Australia to fuel her love of travel and exploration. Outside of The Buzz, she is involved with BUTV on The Wire and as a producer on On That Point. I love to write about my travel experiences and am passionate about making travel sustainable.

Chanel Thorpe is a Junior at BU studying Data Science and Advertising. This is her fourth semester writing for the BUZZ. Previously she was on the Charcoal online writing team for Spring 23’ and Strike for Spring 23’ and Fall 23’. She is also a campus leader for Notion at BU! Chanel enjoys writing about various topics surrounding pop culture and relatable news or events. Apart from writing, she loves to draw, play tennis, seek out new cafes to try, and play games. You’ll always find her with airpods in her ears or headphones on as she navigates the day.

Hannah Hoffman
Hannah Hoffman is a sophomore at BU studying English. She is a transfer student from Fordham University where she studied Journalism. Her home is in Pennsylvania, right outside of Philadelphia. This is her first semester writing for the Buzz. Previously she has worked on the Fordham Newspaper as a columnist, in which she wrote student profiles. She is thrilled to be working in a creative space with other students who enjoy writing and creativity as much as her! In her free time she reads, mostly realistic fiction or romance books. There is always music playing in the background of her world, right now she is on a late 90s kick. She also loves being with her friends and family, and will never pass up an opportunity to hangout with her loved ones.
