September Events

Now that students are settled into their new homes for the year and classes have begun, many are looking for something entertaining to occupy their free time. Here are a few upcoming events this month to help you get out of bed and stop watching Netflix, a habit you were hoping you could go the month of September without (but clearly aren’t succeeding at).

Terrier Tie Dye - Friday, September 15, 6 p.m., BU Beach

BU students will gather at the BU Beach for a night of tie-dye. T-shirts will be provided. This event was wildly popular last year, and has since relocated to a larger space to accommodate the expected larger crowd. You never know when you’ll need a tie-dyed t-shirt. RSVP for free here.

Liquid Fun Presents: BON(iv)ER - Saturday, September 16, 8 p.m., BU Central

Liquid Fun is known for its improv comedy on campus. If you attended orientation this summer, you may have even seen them perform live in BU Central at Terrier Night Out! They will be back at it again in the same spot for their first show of the semester! If you’re feeling inspired after attending the event, the organization holds open practices (no auditions necessary) on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. in STO B50 where they teach you improv.

9th Annual Moonlight Ball - Friday, September 22, 9 p.m.-12 a.m., Metcalf Ballroom

Celebrate the mid-autumn festival with alpha Kappa Delta Phi, Asian Student Union, Chinese Students Association, Filipino Student Association and Vietnamese Student Association in Metcalf Ballroom in the George Sherman Union. There will be mooncakes, music, raffle prizes as well as performances. It is one of largest and most popular events of the fall semester, so be sure to grab your tickets early. (Plus, you’ll save some precious money. We know how broke college students are.)

Fall Swing Social - Saturday, September 23, 7:30 p.m., Sargent Activities Center, 1 University Road

Boston University Ballroom Dance Club and Team’s social will include a free swing lesson at the beginning, followed by social dancing, no experience or partner necessary. You’ll be able to meet Boston’s ballroom dance community and learn about ballroom dance at BU. Light refreshments will be provided.

Grit ‘n’ Wit - Saturday, September 30, 12 p.m -2 p.m.

If you’ve never heard of Grit ‘n’ Wit, think about its name—grit, the physical component, and wit, the mental component, are combined together in this outdoor event along Bay State Road and the BU Beach. There are 16 challenges, which you will complete in teams of up to six people. If you don’t have a team beforehand, don’t worry—you can show up and be placed in a team on the day of the event. If you’re looking to get a workout in without going to the gym all the way in West Campus, this event is for you! Check out clips on their website and sign up for the event on Eventbrite.
