A DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO SPRING BREAK

Things you can do to make your spring break the best it can be

By Zach Murray

After a winter full of blizzards, a week of midterms, and every student slowly losing their sanity, spring break cannot come soon enough. Whether you’re heading to a beach, a different city, or spending the week catching up on rest and relaxation at home, there are certain things you must do to make the most of your spring break:

  1. Read a book or watch a series you’ve been eyeing: with the craziness of the school year, many don’t have time to enjoy leisurely entertainment. So, take this time to really enjoy any entertainment options you’ve wanted to indulge in because Spring breaks only come once a year.

  2. Be near the water: if you are fortunate enough to be going away for break, enjoy the relaxation that laying pool or beachside can bring. Boston winters are long, so a day that’s spent in the sun near the water can cure the fog we all go through towards the end of a long winter.

  3. If you’re not traveling, explore your home: this is one of the simplest ways to make the most of your spring break—even if you’re not leaving your dorm or apartment. Boston has many amazing experiences to offer, with a quick google search offering plenty of resources and ideas. If possible, try something you’ve never done before to add a little spice to your break.

  4. Spend time with friends and family: Of course, whether you’re traveling back to your hometown, going away with friends, or staying in Boston with your roommates, make the most of your free time and spend it with your loved ones. Life can get hectic during the semester, and indulging in quality time with those you cherish is something you’ll never regret.

  5. Do what will bring you the most joy: spring break is often marketed as a time to party on a beach, but you don’t have to conform to the stereotype. No spring break will (or should) look exactly alike, as it is one of the few weeks out of the year that is entirely up to you to plan. Whether that’s catching up on sleep, traveling, or spending time with those you love, take the time to do what brings you the most joy.

Everyone (including me) is ready for a break, so it is crucial to take this time to do something that will bring you happiness. Make the most of your break, however, that looks for you. Do whatever it is that you desire!
