How to find a quiet spot amid a buzzing campus.

Boston University, divided by the bustling street of Commonwealth Avenue, is a campus that never sleeps. Between the constant motion of students and the exciting atmosphere of city life, finding the perfect study spot can feel like a quest in itself.
Amid all that excitement, it can be difficult to find a peaceful corner to “lock-in” on your studies. Fortunately for BU students, there are tons of study spaces across campus, designed to make you fall in love with studying and stray from procrastination.
The Classic Study Spot
The Mugar Library located in the GSU is a timeless go-to for anyone seeking a productive and calm atmosphere. The quiet hum of typing on a keyboard or shuffle of notebooks create the perfect rhythm for concentration. In the common area on the first floor of the library, you can bring a few friends to work in the group area with complementary whiteboards that allow you to work through problems together.
But if you desire for the ultimate silent experience to prepare for your mid-terms or finals, you are also welcome to reserve a room in the upper floors of the Mugar Library for 2 hours at a time.
Study With Nature By Your Side
The BU Beach is another amazing “lock-in” location right behind Marsh Chapel. Despite its misleading name, there’s no sand, but there is a stretch of lush grass field that provides you with the perfect escape from the city. Under a cloudless sky, students scatter across the lawn with blankets, laptops and their StarBucks coffees in hand, all gathering together for a picnic or study session.
It is the ultimate place to relax and get some fresh air alongside some Vitamin D from being under the sun, after a long day of being stuck in a variety of lecture halls across campus. Studying while boosting your physical and mental health—truly seems like a game you just can’t lose!
BU’s Secret Gem
If you have not studied in the CDS Building yet, you are truly missing out! The staircase lounge in the CDS building offers a stunning view of Commonwealth Avenue. It allows you to study with the city by your side, allowing you to avoid the fear of completely missing out while studying. When the first two floors get too crowded, take the elevator to the fifth floor and find yourself a spot at the indoor lounge or on the terrace. You are surrounded by the best skyline views in Boston while doing your homework. How can you pass on that deal?
From river views to grassy escapes, Boston University offers study spaces for every kind of learner. Whether you thrive surrounded by nature or hidden in a quiet corner of the library, these spots prove that the best kind of focus-sessions happen only when the space itself inspires you to stay just a little longer.
