If you follow high fashion or simply scroll on TikTok, you know the name Alex Consani. In just four years, she has carved out a place in the industry and built a legacy that is already shaping the future. She’s the first transgender woman to be named Model of the Year, was one of Vogue’s standout models for Spring-Summer 2023, and recently became one of Victoria’s Secret’s first transgender Angels.
Consani signed with IMG Models in 2019, making history as the youngest trans model ever signed to the agency. Her career gained momentum in 2020 when she began posting goofy skits showcasing her personality on TikTok that quickly went viral. Within three years, she amassed more than 3 million followers. Her social media success and increased visibility catapulted her into stardom within the modeling industry. Just after graduating high school, she made her runway debut for Tom Ford, marking the start of a long list of high-profile appearances.
What set Consani apart from the start wasn’t just her striking looks, but her openness. Fans connected with her because she is funny, approachable and unapologetically herself. She never hides her personality to fit a mold. Instead, her humor makes her even more magnetic.
It’s not just fans who have taken notice. Consani has already walked for Chanel, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Hermès, and Fendi. Her rise has also caught the admiration of fellow supermodels, including Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, and Anok Yai. After she won Model of the Year in 2024, Anok Yai shared: “Alex, I love you and I’m so proud of you. If you have seen the effort that I’ve seen Alex put in, you would understand how proud I am of her.”
Consani’s influence extends beyond fashion. She regularly uses her platform to advocate for trans rights, LGBTQ+ youth and social justice. Accepting her Model of the Year award, she said, “I can’t accept this award without thanking all those who came before me and specifically the Black trans women who really fought for the space that allowed me to flourish today.”
At just 22, Consani embodies the idea that success doesn’t have to mean changing who you are. She’s living proof that you can have both: authenticity and achievement.
