Warming Up to Wind Down
by Nazalia Justiniano

Boston winters are unforgiving, making it difficult to stay active and warm. Fortunately, CorePower Yoga provides an escape—a space where heat, movement, and mindfulness come together to create a transformative experience. With studios from Comm Ave. to Seaport open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m., CorePower Yoga is a sanctuary for those seeking both physical intensity and inner balance. First-timers are offered a free week trial, making it easier than ever to dive into the world of hot yoga.
Founded in 2002 by Trevor Tice, CorePower Yoga blends heat, strength, and mindfulness into every class—a vision inspired by his healing journey after a climbing accident. With six different class options from high-intensity Yoga Sculpt to restorative Hot Power Fusion, CorePower is designed to build strength, balance, and awareness.
Walking into CorePower Yoga Fenway at 1282 Boylston Street for my 6:45 p.m. CPY C1 class, I felt anxious. However, those worries quickly melted away. Warmth radiated beyond the heated room; friendly smiles, warm greetings, a welcome packet, and softly dimmed lights immediately put me at ease, adding a sense of relaxation.
Focusing on alignment and breathwork, the instructor provided empowering and soulful guidance creating a peaceful, safe energy. Continuing through a structured flow, students moved seamlessly between hip openers Half Pigeon and Frog Pose, promoting deep release and grounding. Acoustic folk music enhanced both meditative and uplifting aspects of the session. As sweat built up, the tension of my body faded with each movement. By the final exhale, a profound sense of physical and mental release settled in.
Stepping out of the studio into the winter air, the warmth lingers–not just from the heated room, but from within. The initial anxiety has been replaced with clarity and calmness. For anyone looking to escape the Boston chill and reconnect with their body, CorePower Yoga offers more than just a workout–it’s a journey to balance, strength, and renewal.
Boston has plenty of heat beyond CorePower–check out Down Under School of Yoga, Radiant Yoga Boston, and Beacon Hill Yoga for more sweaty, soul-cleansing sessions!
No matter where you practice, get the best experience by bringing water, a towel, and a yoga mat—rentals are available if needed. Then, step into the heat and flow your way through winter.
