There’s a club for every interest at BU
By Jacqueline Liu

Boston University has over 450 student clubs, but let’s be real, most people can only name a handful at best. Beyond the sororities, cultural clubs, and business frats we all know, here are some niche student organizations you probably never knew existed.
BU Cheese Lovers Society
Tucked away among Boston University’s student clubs is a best-kept secret for dairy enthusiasts: the BU Cheese Lovers Society. Whether you're a fan of aged cheddar or gooey brie, this society celebrates a shared appreciation for none other than cheese! Each month, students come together to explore the world by tasting cheeses from different cultures, learning about their origins, and connecting over a mutual love for good food and conversation.
FeelGood BU
On the topic of cheese… FeelGood BU (a.k.a. the Grilled Cheese Club) is a student organization dedicated to fighting world hunger and global poverty “one grilled cheese at a time.” FeelGood BU partners with Baystate Underground to sell grilled cheese on Grubhub, with all proceeds going toward initiatives to end global hunger. This club offers hands-on experience in running a student-led venture, service opportunities, and the chance to be part of something meaningful and memorable.
Smash Bros Society
The BU Smash Bros Society brings together students who share a passion for one of Nintendo’s most iconic games: Super Smash Bros. From casual matches to competitive brackets, the club offers a space for players of all levels to connect, improve, and enjoy the game together. Club meetings feature laid-back games and organized tournaments, making it a welcoming environment whether you’re a seasoned main or simply starting out.
BU Third Culture Club
If you’ve ever felt like you belong everywhere yet nowhere at once, the BU Third Culture Club might be precisely what you’ve been looking for. As an international student whose cultural identity spans multiple cities, I know firsthand what it’s like to feel unsure of where you truly belong. This club creates a space for students shaped by various cultures to celebrate their layered identities and find comfort in others who understand the in-between. Whether you're navigating culture shock or simply tired of answering "So, where are you really from?" with a 10-minute explanation, this community gets it.
With so many clubs on campus, it’s easy to overlook the ones that don’t always make the big headlines—but often, the most meaningful communities are the ones quietly doing their own thing. So next time you’re scrolling through BU’s club directory, consider exploring one of these unique corners on campus, and you might find your people in the most unexpected places.
