While it is March, the average Bostonian knows that it won’t feel like spring until weeks later. Especially with the recent “Blizzard of 2026,” and the city still recovering from weeks’ worth of snow, spring will surely be delayed for the city this year.

While I love warm weather, and finally being able to soak in the sun, I will admit that styling outfits in the winter is much easier and more comfortable. There’s a sense of convenience in layering neutral thermals, throwing on a wool trench coat, and slipping on a pair of boots and calling it a day.

But, when it comes to dressing in the spring and summer seasons, I feel pressured to wear brighter colors and different textures, and overall step outside of my comfort zone.

I am ready to be done with winter and experience sunny days ahead, but admittedly, I’m not quite ready to let go of my winter wardrobe. So, to make the most of the final weeks of winter, here are my top picks for the winter accessories you can still wear before spring arrives.

Triangle Knit Scarf

Perfect for both colder and milder days, a triangle knit scarf can be paired with almost any outfit. Tied in a knot at the front, this scarf can add a pop of color to neutral winter looks—with red and blue being my favorite choices. Pair it with a wool sweater, or layer it over your winter coat to keep warm.

Knitted Bonnets

While there’s no guaranteed solution to keeping your hair out of your face in Boston’s infamous wind tunnels, a knitted bonnet can help—while doing so in style. Tied beneath the chin, these bonnets keep your hair in place and double as a chic accessory. Available in a range of colors and textures—from cashmere knits to crochet with velvet trim— this accessory can elevate even the most basic puffer or trench coat look. For a more off-duty feel, try pairing a bonnet with sunglasses.

Tortoiseshell Headbands

Many people—including myself—have likely seen the Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr. edits circulating on TikTok, highlighting Carolyn’s minimalist, timeless style. While headbands can be worn year-round, the tortoiseshell headband Carolyn was often seen wearing works as the perfect winter neutral. Paired with a slicked-back style or worn with your hair down, tortoiseshell headbands complement nearly any color palette, serving as a subtle and timeless finishing touch.
