As the weather in Boston finally becomes bearable again, Boston University starts feeling like a true college campus. Just in time for tour season, hordes of students can be found lounging in the sunshine at BU Beach or walking along Bay State. But where exactly in Boston—outside of campus—do students spend most of their time?

Some of the most popular hotspots include the cafes scattered throughout the city.  At the top of mind are Tatte Bakery and Cafe, Pavement Coffeehouse, and Caffe Nero. With multiple locations, students can venture to Fenway or go right across from the Marsh Plaza to find a savory rosemary salt bagel or smooth vanilla latte. While these cafes offer a place to do homework, there is always a constant buzz of noise: chatter and gossip from friends crowded around tables mix effortlessly with the grinding of the espresso machine.

Another perfect indoor hangout spot is the towering building right outside of Copley

station: the Boston Public Library. While the whole library is a cool, the historic McKim

Building adds to the true ambiance. The large marble staircase bordered by carved

lions leads to what appears to be a setting straight out of Hogwarts. Something about the high

arched ceilings and low-lit glass lamps offers a sense of comfort to those wishing to study or friends who are just catching up.

But the real hub for students becomes clear the moment the sun starts shining regularly. The Boston Commons is a must-see part of Boston. When the tulips bloom and swans can be seen floating through the ponds, it is the perfect place to gather with friends. Students aren’t the only ones drawn here—families regularly meander through the park as well. Even in the winter there are fun activities such as ice skating at Frog Pond. Regardless of the season, this green space nestled in the heart of the city is a perfect place to hang out.

Another amazing outdoor space in Boston is the Charles River Esplanade. The long strips of paths along the Charles serve as a great hangout spot. With the CDS building glittering across the river and runners passing by in a blur, these trails provide the perfect scenic route. If you want to go on a quick walk or run, these foot and bike paths are immaculate.

At last, Newbury Street is not only attractive to tourists but also to Boston residents. With

the Prudential Center only about a ten-minute walk from this famous street, it is the perfect

avenue to walk, talk, shop, and eat. There is something for everyone, whether you want a

coffee from Central Perk Cafe or window shop at the boutiques lining the road.

In Boston, you’re never short of great places to hang out with friends. And while the good weather helps, any place is worth visiting when you’re with the people you love.
